// BIO
Xiyao (b.1992) is an interdisciplinary artist, landworker and researcher operating in the fluid zone across anthropology, moving images, sonic sculptures and agroecology. She is currently nurturing an embodied practice that values care over extraction, challenging eco-social injustices by focusing on more-than-human interspecies kinship and the affective turn in ecology. Collaborating with artists, scientists and anthropologists, she is part of the Working with Waste research group in collaboration with Max Planck Institute, Berlin and has been working on land-based projects with the Inland Collective in Spain and beyond, participating in Documenta Fifteen last year. Her films and performances have been shown in Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow, La Peyrigne Residence d’Art, Zaratan Arte Contemporanea in Lisbon, PB27 Gallery in Porto and Matadero in Madrid. She is also teaching participatory research at University of the Arts London and Royal College of Art in London.
