Pamela Samel (Estonia)
01.12 – 15.12.2024
BIO
Pamela Samel is a freelance illustrator and costume designer based in Tallinn, Estonia. Lately, her energy has been focused on illustrating children’s picture books and working on different exhibitions and illustration festivals. Her illustrating style is naive yet funny and warm. The whole basis of Pamela’s art is to tell the stories of how they are – with life-like situations and happenings that people can recognize themselves in. The whimsical characters and bright colors only add humor and warmth to the stories.
PROJECT
During the residency, Pamela will develop a children’s picturebook by Liis Sein called “Miks Jaan” (“Why Jaan?”). It’s a book about a family tree and a birthname given to us. With the author, Pamela will visit some schools and a kindergarten in Narva to talk about the heritage and family history.
