”Kitchen as a source of Art = daily contact between fire and people”
NART residents Reico Motohara and Kabo were developing a Kitchen Stories project during their autumnt residency in Narva and now they’re working on the second book of the Kitchen Stories series. It is a book about Estonian (mostly Narva) kitchen stories. They will be full of different perspectives and stories that cannot be found in the news.
Recently they had a project presentation in Japan, where they talked about their time in the residency, their garden visits and mushroom-picking, conversations with the fishermen and all the rare stories of each family they’ve met, using food and cooking as a starting point of conversations.
For her guests of their presentation in Japan, Reico prepared borscht, which she had learned to cook in Narva. She also wrote down all the other recipes and now she’s looking forward to seeing how the recipes will be made local at the Japanese homes in the future.
