The open call of Kreenholm Garden gives an opportunity for an artistic residency in the month of June in 2023 and involves a grant as well as a production budget. Deadline for applying is 27 April.
“Kreenholm Plants” garden residency programme and open garden have been led by artists Sille Kima and Sandra Kosorotova since 2020. It is located at and has been done in collaboration with the Narva Art Residency.
It is a community-based collaborative platform for ecology practices rooted in plant growing and garden work for artists, permaculturists, socially-oriented organisations and local residents in the Kreenholm area.
The aim has been to develop an urban garden where both international artists-in-residence and locals can experience working with soil side-by-side. The programme consists of an artistic residency and workshops, and a close cooperation with the local social centre. Before applying, please familiarise yourself with the full programme of past years here.
The open call for an artistic residency seeks to find a creative person who will stay in Narva from 1st to 30th of June (no other periods are available) and work on a project in close connection to the garden itself. It might be an artistic intervention, installation, or another project with a physical outcome that adds to or echoes with the garden. The selected creative will also give one or couple of workshops at the garden during the residency. We ask to outline the initial idea of the project and the workshop in the application.
The selected artist will have a grant of 500€ as well as a budget of 500€ for executing their artistic intervention. Narva Art Residency will provide free accommodation. The project team will be helping the artists as necessary.
The open call’s deadline is 27 April at 23:59 by Estonian time. The artist will be picked by a jury that consists of the project team (Katya Kuznetcova, Maria Kopytova), founders (Sille Kima, Sandra Kosorotova) and representative of Narva Art Residency (Johanna Rannula).
