NART starts again with a programme of Estonian films. The first one this spring will be “Tangerines”! The screening at the cinema Amalie is on 16.03 at 18.00.
This film is about the war in Abkhazia in 1992, where the Abkhazians are fighting to break away from Georgia. In a deserted village, wounded fighters from the opposing camps find themselves in the house of a local Estonian.
The film was the first Estonian film to be nominated for the Golden Globe for best non-English language film. Tangerines was also nominated for the Oscar for best foreign language film. It was directed and written by Zaza Urushadze.
The film programme is supported this spring by the British Council P2P programme.
