Samuels practice includes a lot of movement and environmental-responsiveness, it’s a way of making sense of the world through the body and its sensations. This is also the way He creates most of his performances – through a site-specific approach.
Samuels is a part of an informal movement group based in Lithuania that organizes workshops focused on collective knowledge sharing and exploration through bodily practices, driven by their interest in shared spaces and experiences.
He would want to achieve this with this workshop – a safe space for exploring and sensing yourself, environments and others. He strongly believes that by engaging in experiences where we prioritize our bodily sensations over our rational thoughts, we can learn a lot about ourselves and understand our place in the bigger picture, thus increasing our environmental consciousness. He would share the approach he uses in his ongoing movement research “Collaborations” and guide the participants through an easy and accessible routine of sensing and moving with and in natural surroundings. That would be followed by a feedback session to vocalise and share the experiences.
