All culture lovers are invited to the Narva Kreenholm Manufactory on 31 October at 16.30 for the unveiling and opening of the Narva entrance, the easternmost point of Stalker Themepark.
Stalker Themepark developments have reached one of Narva’s most important sites – Kreenholm Manufactory – where artworks by Leonardo Meigas, Raoul Kurvitz, Iris Müntel, Margus Kontus, Kadi Nool and DARKovSKY have been presented. Also on display is an object called “Hälo” (by Martin Melioranski, Jan Graps, Ken Ruut).
In the former factory spaces and cotton warehouses of Kreenholm, Stalker Themepark creates a unique opportunity to exhibit contemporary Estonian art via intermediate use. This is especially so for large-scale works, which are often difficult to preserve and present in a dignified way elsewhere in Estonia.
The Narva Kreenholm exhibition, together with the recently opened Joaveski residency, is the next phase of Stalker Themepark, where the industrial heritage will become not only an exhibition space for art, but also a preservation site for postindustrial artefacts. In this way, workshops and residencies will also allow artists and students to create new artworks using reuse methods.
The opening of the entrance of Narva Kreenholm is the result of a fruitful cooperation with Narva Gate OÜ and Narva Art Residence NART. Both the Themepark’s entrance and the cooperation will be further developed in the near future with the support of the Just Transition Fund. The project is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
