A walk together with artist Birgit Szepanski

Come and walk with Birgit Szepanski, the current artist-in-residency at NART, through Narva and experience the everyday streets, places and monuments from a new point of view. During the walk, she will talk about traces of a female city. Birgit will tell about her research on Amalie Kreisberg and the connections to female textile workers from Kreenholm. The walk will go past the former Palace of Culture, visit a backyard and pass the Amalie Kreisberg monument. Moreover, there will also be a presentation of Kreenholm textiles and an artistic performance along the way!
Birgit Szepanski is an artist, author and curator who lives and works in Berlin. In her installations, she combines textile materials with texts and often also archive photographs. Her artistic work is based on research into the history of a place. In Narva, she has done research at the museum’s archive and library.
