Museum Night 2025 at NART

Museum Night 2025 at NART

This year, Narva Art Residency NART will open its gallery for the first time as part of Museum Night and, together with Narva mediaLAB, all are invited to take part in a cozy program of events. The doors will be open during Museum Night from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Entrance and events are for free!

► 5 p.m. – House tour in Estonian
► 6 p.m. – Presentation of Narva mediaLAB’s art activism handbook “Take pART!”
► 6:30 p.m. – Workshop by Finnish curator duo Anna Jensen and Eliisa Suvanto in English and Russian
► 7 p.m. – House tour in Russian

The program begins and ends with house tours – the first in Estonian, the second in Russian. The tour will be about the 130-year history of the Kreenholm director’s villa, as well as how this cultural platform located in the Estonian-Russian border town functions and hosts both domestic and foreign artists. Historical film footage will also be shown in the retro cinema.

At 6 pm, Narva mediaLAB invites all art and activism enthusiasts to the presentation of the handbook “Take pART”. The handbook describes various art and activism techniques to encourage young people to express their opinions on social and political issues. The book summarizes a project that, among many activities, hosted workshops in Narva in 2024. The project was funded by the European Union.

Narva mediaLAB operated in 2021–2024 and hosted film screenings, photo exhibitions, various workshops and lectures. Several books and a magazine called FACTURA were created by the local people of Narva. The Narva mediaLAB project was organized by femLENS, which promotes documentary photography and media literacy, engages communities through visual storytelling and educational projects.

At 6:30 pm, Narva mediaLAB presents a workshop by Finnish curator duo Anna Jensen and Eliisa Suvanto. The workshop is on organizing artistic interventions. Books and leaflets can also be used as a means of intervention! The materials necessary for the workshop are available on site and you can participate both individually and in small groups. People of different ages and language backgrounds are welcome. The activity lasts about twenty minutes, but you can also continue with it independently.

Anna Jensen and Eliisa Suvanto are Finnish contemporary art curators and artists whose work focuses on site-specific exhibitions, social structures and accessibility. They are currently in residency at NART with the support of the Finnish Culture Foundation.

As mentioned, the program will end with a Russian-language house tour, but the house itself is open to guests until 11 p.m.
