Leri will show her film “Слезы останутся” (“Tears will remain”), which she created during her 2018-19 research trip to Bahmut, Ukraine. It is about the confrontation between the Soviet past and the present, culminating in the Soviet champagne.
Mia will present her own practice as an artist through her documentary about the lace knitting traditions of West Estonia. Mia presents her ways of trying to become one with the researched community and the struggles that she has encountered in documenting that process.
Our third resident, Saara, has experience in photojournalism. She has constantly been in between real life and fiction, which has influenced her creative practice. She will present her work and also talk about an ongoing documentary project exploring the roots of her relatives from Ingerland.
