Curator Denis Jatsenko will give the historical tour about the director’s villa. He has prepared a truly unique tour based on the memories of the citizens and historical materials! After the tour will be a lecture by Aleksandr Openko, who will tell more about Kreenholm factory and the area in general.
Kreenholm factory, founded in 1857, became the largest textile manufactory in the world by the beginning of the 20th century, employing 10,000 people. In 1900, products of Kreenholm Manufactory won the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition of Industrial Goods, which was held in Paris. The manufactory also owned its own schools, hospitals, churches, cemeteries, bakeries, etc. It was a city within a city.
