Emery, NART resident from Arizona, exhibits a large-scale textile installation in the historic Kreenholm factory. During the event, the audience can collaboratively color the installation with various natural materials.
Taking inspiration from the colors of Narva and drawing upon the city’s history as one of the most prominent textile producers in the world, Emery has created a large-scale textile installation suspended between the factory’s pillars. Strips of locally-sourced fabric have been dyed with red cabbage. By meticulously changing the ph of the dye, one teaspoon at a time, Emery has depicted the full color spectrum of the cabbage- ranging from bubblegum pink to a sea green. Emery is also seeking your help in creating a textile that represents present-day Narva. At her exhibition, there will be a large cloth where participants can contribute by using the color-shifting magic of cabbage dyes to create patterns and interactive designs.
