8 December from 15-21
at the Narva Art Residency, Joala 18
Entrance is free
Christmas holidays are approaching and it’s time for parties. We invite everyone to come and celebrate together the 130th anniversary of the Joala 18 house! This house was designed by architect Pavel Alish and it was completed in 1893. Now 130 years have passed, and we will have a joyous gathering and raise our glasses to celebrate this remarkable anniversary! The house has seen many different times. Kreenholm directors from England and Germany have lived there. It housed a military office, an editorial office, a tourist club, a children’s club, a cinema, a library, and much more. For the last 8 years, the house has been home to the Narva Art Residency and many international artists have lived and worked in this building.
The Christmas birthday party will be full of various activities:
- There will be workshops for decorating gingerbreads and printing postcards with Kreenholm patterns
- There will also be live music (TBA!)
- NART team will hold house tours in both Estonian and Russian
- We have also invited Aleksandr Openko to talk about the history of Kreenholm (in Russian)
Everyone is welcome to our Christmas’y birthday party!
