Saara & Jüri Mildeberg (Estonia)

At the beginning of this year, NART hosted the Mildebergs. Saara and Jüri Mildeberg are a daughter-father duo from Estonia. Jüri is a graphic artist and an illustrator who lives and works in Läsna village in Lääne-Virumaa (region west of Ida-Virumaa), and Saara is a photographer and ethnologist who researches the potential and obstacles of cultural tourism in Ida-Virumaa.

In NART, the duo focused on the mapping of Kreenholm Districts. The texts and visual documentation produced during the residency as a participant observation will be compiled into an exhibition that reflects the understanding of the borders, peculiarities and everyday life of Kreenholm in the eyes of the locals and other visitors they met. The exhibition is scheduled to take place in NART in the autumn of 2022.
