Project
Engaging the Community through Metal Casting and Sound is proposed residency project in Narva which focuses on a community workshop centred on lost wax bronze casting. Encouraging local participants to explore the symbolism of metal and the river, drawing inspiration from Celtic bronze traditions The project also includes research on Estonian bells and their cultural significance as part of preparations for an upcoming Tallinn Tower exhibition. Exploring the history and folklore of bells, the research will inform a broader artistic collaboration with British bell founders to reimagine the practice of bell casting. The exhibition highlights how bells, historically tied to boundaries through towers, transcend these limits with their resonant sound. A live bell-casting performance in Narva, incorporating local folklore, is a potential extension, blending storytelling, craftsmanship, and community participation. The residency aims to foster connections, celebrate local traditions, and explore the transformative power of sound and sculpture in reimagining boundaries.
